PHOENIX - Arizona is gearing up for another dose of lottery fever as the jackpot for the Mega Millions game is expected to reach $196 million.
Those who sell lottery tickets as well as those who buy them are getting ready for Tuesday’s big drawing.
The surge in ticket sales is in the numbers as there is a $20 million jackpot for the Powerball game, which is nothing compared to the $196 million if you win Mega Millions.
To give you an idea of how important the lottery has become to Arizona, the Mega Millions game has rolled over for about a month now which is why the jackpot has grown.
During that time the game has paid $1.5 million in state taxes, which may not sound like much but when you have a billion dollar deficit every penny is helping the state of Arizona.
