Jets Coach Rex Ryan On Feet... Devin Hester's And Others Dec 22 11:27a by Al Yellon

Bears return specialist and sometime wide receiver Devin Hester set an NFL record Monday night with his 14th career return touchdown, in the 40-14 blowout of the Vikings.

Teams say this all the time: “We’re not going to kick to Hester.” And then they do. Chicago Breaking Sports says that Jets coach Rex Ryan is determined to kick away from Hester:

“I think it’s pretty safe to say we’re planning on not kicking to him,” Ryan said Wednesday in a teleconference with Chicago media. "I think you can write that down as everybody else I’m sure doesn’t want to kick to him.

“I don’t think you can deal with him. As a returner, it’s ridiculous. He’s got to go down as the best punt returner in the history of the game.

Hester has fast feet — perhaps the fastest in NFL history, and Ryan doesn’t want those feet to hurt his team on Sunday afternoon.

Ryan has some other things to worry about regarding feet this morning. According to Deadspin, a YouTube user called “ihaveprettyfeet” posted a video of her sticking her feet outside a car window, while a man whose voice sounded very much like Rex Ryan’s egged her on in a vaguely erotic way. The Deadspin post goes on to “investigate” whether the woman is a “twin sister” of Michelle Ryan, Rex’s wife, and concludes that the woman is likely, in fact, Rex’s wife.

There’s nothing wrong with any of this, of course; it’s just something that spices up the week for Rex, whose comment, according to a Chicago Breaking Sports article on the subject, was:

“To be honest, and I get it, I know you need to ask and all that stuff,” Ryan said. “It’s a personal matter and I’m really not going to discuss it, OK?”

Here’s the video if you want to look for yourself (c’mon, you know you want to):

Punter's dodgy digit and AFL's naked ambition

THE WRAP

Sledge-happy Ashes about to continue, but Punter's pinky the only finger that matters … Fee, fi, fo, fum, could Big Bad Barry become Giant Bazza? … Allen Iverson wants to come to Sydney, but can the Kings get him under the cap? If Souths can do it with GI, then the Kings can with AI … Essendon now after Inglis, but want to check if he is committed and doesn't have any naked photos … Hurley-burley: Warnie, what were you thinking?

IT'S NOT PORN, BUT YOU'LL LIKE IT

The New York Jets are on the verge of making the play-offs, but interest this week is not only on the throwing shoulder of quarterback Mark Sanchez, which has a slight cartilage tear, but also the feet of coach Rex Ryan's wife, Michelle. After a foot-fetish video appeared on the internet this week featuring a woman who looks like Michelle Ryan, and a cameraman who sounds like Rex Ryan, the Jets' coach was quizzed about it at a news conference. ''To be honest, and I get it, I know you need to ask and all that stuff, but it's a personal matter and I'm really not going to discuss it, OK?'' Ryan said. He was asked repeatedly about the videos but continued with the line: '''It's a personal matter.'' Asked if his focus on this week's game against Chicago had been disrupted, Ryan said: ''I am ready. It's my job and I'm focused on the job at hand.'' Or foot? When asked about his wife, Ryan simply responded, ''My wife's beautiful. We've been married for 23 years. She's awesome.''

REVELATIONS

The curtain tumbling down on the famous Harold Park Paceway last week brought back memories of a story from several years ago. After persistent rain one Friday in Sydney, the telephone rang in the Herald's sports section. The copy boy answered. ''Is Harold Park on tonight, Mate?'' came the question from a caller obviously with a good thing at the redhots. ''I'll just check,'' said the eager copy boy. He made some inquiries - perhaps of the wrong people - and returned with: ''No, sorry, Mate, Harold's not working tonight.''

SWORN STATEMENT

It's usually Britain's tabloids which come up with the clever headlines, but London's broadsheet Telegraph produced a handy one yesterday for a story about new Football Association chairman David Bernstein. Bernstein was the non-executive chairman of French Connection, and responsible for the company's controversial but hugely successful ''FCUK'' advertisement campaign. He remains on the board of the retailer. The headline: ''From FCUK to sweet FA''.

BROTHER, CAN YOU SPARE A SLEDGE?

Still in Britain and from The Mirror columnist Oliver Holt comes this: ''There are three things I won't miss about Australia: Shane Warne's chicken burger adverts, Shane Warne's TV show, the glare from Shane Warne's teeth.''

ARTS FOR DARTS' SAKE

There will be quite a few fans gutted that five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld came from a set down to beat Steve Hine in the World Darts Championship in London. Hine, a part-time baker from Coventry, would take to the oche in his baker's hat and apron. He then hands out muffins and flapjacks to the fans to the sound of his signature tune, Have You Seen the Muffin Man?

GET ME MY CAB MONEY

Zucc's sure-fire winner in the last: Crystin Bale (box four) disappointed readers last week when unplaced but gets her chance to atone in a much weaker affair at Wentworth Park greyhounds on Sunday night.

IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING SPORT YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO …

Wish List. The Falling Joys. What an album this coulda, shoulda been. Lock It, Jennifer and Dream Hangover are quality songs, but it's not until you hit the final cut, You're In A Mess, that the talent of this band is fully realised. It's one of the great Australian pop tunes. - Ears McEvoy

USELESS TRIVIA

The University of Connecticut women's basketball team won their 89th consecutive game during the week, surpassed one of the most celebrated winning streaks in US sports history, the 88-game winning streak established by the UCLA men's team from 1971-74. But, the overall college record is held by the women's team at Wayland Baptist University of Plainview, Texas, which won 131 consecutive games from 1953 to 1958.

Mark Sanchez deals with shoulder injury

N.Y. SportsCenter

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The second-most talked about body part Wednesday around the New York Jets, next to Michelle Ryan's feet, was Mark Sanchez's right shoulder.

Oh, yes, remember that?

An MRI exam Monday revealed a small cartilage tear, a league source confirmed Wednesday night. But doctors don't believe the tear is the result of a hit in last Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the source said. The feeling is that it's simply the cumulative effect of wear and tear over the years, and that it shouldn't be a major hindrance. As of now, the possibility of postseason surgery appears remote.

Sanchez practiced on a limited basis -- only soft-tossing, plus some left-handed throws -- but he vowed to be ready Sunday to face the Chicago Bears. If the Jets (10-4) win, they clinch a playoff spot for the second straight year.

"I'm in there. I'm playing, that's all there is to it," the second-year quarterback said after practice. "I have to be on the field. That's what I'm here for and that's what I'm going to do."

Head coach Rex Ryan said he's 99 percent sure Sanchez will start. The question is, how effective will he be? Practice time is critical for Sanchez, who has only 29 career starts, but the team is being ultra-cautious with his shoulder and that may mean lost reps during the week.

On Wednesday, Sanchez did virtually no passing in team drills, limited to handing off on running plays. Later, with a mischievous grin, he said he snuck into a couple of passing plays, but he didn't cut loose. In the early portion of practice, open to the media, he actually made a few left-handed throws in quarterback drills.

Both Sanchez and Ryan downplayed the seriousness of the injury, yet the team refused to reveal the exact nature of it. Ryan, half-jokingly, said he couldn't pronounce the "verbiage" of the injury. For now, the team is calling it a sore shoulder.

Sanchez landed awkwardly on his right shoulder on a first-quarter scramble in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He stayed in the game and played well, but admitted that he needed sideline warm-up tosses throughout the game to stay warm and loose. An MRI exam Monday was negative, according to the Jets. Sanchez said he was "very pleased" with the results. There was no rotator-cuff damage, no separation and no dislocation, a source said.

The Jets' No. 2 quarterback is 40-year-old Mark Brunell, who has attempted only one pass this season.

They're hopeful that Sanchez will be able to participate in a full practice this week, but they also don't want to push him. It's a delicate balance. In the meantime, he will play "invisible football," as he called it. He takes mental reps, calling in plays to Brunell and practicing his dropbacks and reads in simulated game situations.

"I'm being safe about it and I'm in for the long haul," Sanchez said. "We have, hopefully, six or seven weeks left -- or whatever it is -- and I want to make it through all those weeks."

He was alluding to a Super Bowl run, of course. To do that, the Jets will need Sanchez to be a low-mistake quarterback. He was interception-free in Pittsburgh, snapping a three-game slump that prompted Ryan to call him out publicly and sit him for a couple of plays last week in practice. Ryan said he wanted to make Sanchez accountable for his sloppy play, knowing it would tick off his young quarterback.

Sanchez made it clear that he wasn't happy about that at all, apparently causing some tension between him and Ryan.

"He knows I disagreed with coming out," Sanchez said, adding, "He knows we have an understanding that I don't always agree with him. It's personal to me, and I think he knows that. ... I'm possessive about this job, so we had a little talk about it. But it's good. I think part of it was a psychological thing, just to kind of test me a little bit."

This week's challenge will be more physical than psychological.

In other injury news, wide receiver Santonio Holmes missed practice because of turf toe. The injury isn't serious, Ryan said, and he expects Holmes to play Sunday.

"[I] never thought it was this bad, quite honestly," Ryan said. "I never knew that we'd have to hold him out today, but it was bad enough to keep him out. Now I expect him to play, but he was not comfortable today."

Ryan added that he expects Holmes, who injured his toe during the game against the Steelers last Sunday, to be able to practice later in the week.

"I think he will," Ryan said. "I don't think he's out by any stretch of the imagination. ... It was sore today where he didn't feel like he could practice."

Holmes, who had six catches for 40 yards against the Steelers, did not speak with reporters after practice.

Right tackle Damien Woody, one week removed from arthroscopic knee surgery, will sit at least one more game.

Safeties Eric Smith (concussion) and James Ihedigbo (knee, ankle) also missed practice.

Michelle Ryan’s Foot Fetish Vid: Watch Rex Ryan’s Wife in Action!

Michelle Ryan is sparking quite the scandal for her New York Jets coach husband Rex Ryan after a series of foot-fetish videos featuring his wife of 23 years hit the web this week.

In addition to several creepy feet-obsessed videos, news sources have also discovered countless profiles on provocative websites all over the internet that appear to be Michelle and Rex.

On the web, Michelle seems to go by the name “ihaveprettyfeet” and talks in great detail about her sexual infatuation with feet.

Sure, Michelle’s creepy obsession with feet is mind-boggling but what;s more shocking is the amount of free time this woman has to make all of these videos and become a part of all of these online communities. Seems like a full-time job, if you ask me. Must be nice to have all that free time.

Take a look at the video below and check out all of the creepy videos and online profiles at DeadSpin.com.

So weird.
