Will they be open?

The neat thing about making a trip to see friends and family on Christmas day is you get to see parking lots completely empty. Wal-Mart, Target, Fleet and Shopko will have their doors closed. Aside from several convenience stores not much else has been open on Christmas. Even McDonald's on Milton Avenue will close its doors for the day.

There will be the obvious Urgent Care spots open and a few pharmacies for the nasty garbage that is going around right now. Otherwise, all is quiet in Janesville. It's nice to see things quiet down.

I sure hope retailers don't get the brilliant idea that the returns can begin at noon on Christmas day. For some reason I can envision a few board rooms having that discussion right now.

There is one other branch that is open this Christmas Day. Actually several branches - the Armed Forces. I'll be enjoying the day while thousands of men and women are protecting us throughout the world. It isn't a day off for them. Thank you for serving our country.

No matter where you are or what you're going to do, have a Merry Christmas.
